Mary Travers--Due to complications arising from Chemotherapy, the popular folk singer, Mary Allin Travers died on September 16, 2009. Although a bone marrow transplant was successfully carried for this singer, who was diagnosed with leukemia, the complications of the treatment led to the death. She was 73. She was an American singer-songwriter and member of the folk group Peter, Paul and Mary, along with Peter Yarrow and Noel "Paul" Stookey. Peter, Paul and Mary was one of the most successful folk-singing groups of the 1960s.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Travers lived in Greenwich Village in New York City. She attended the Little Red School House there, but was expelled in the 11th grade. She then attended Elisabeth Irwin High School.
Travers’s first three marriages ended in divorce. She is survived by her fourth husband, Ethan Robbins, two daughters, a sister, and two grandchildren. Travers lived in Redding, Connecticut.
